Abby C. Anderson
GRAND BAY - Abby C. Anderson, who had worked as a restaurant manger, died Tuesday in a local hospital after battling leukemia. She was 30.
Mrs. Anderson, a lifelong Mobile County resident, lived in Grand Bay. She had managed the Dairy Queen restaurant at Stuckey's in Grand Bay.
Survivors include her husband, Darren Anderson of Grand Bay; two daughters, Sarah Anderson and Rachel Anderson of Grand Bay; parents, Sharon and Christopher Cornelius III of Irvington and Sylvia Jones of Grand Bay; two sisters, Suzanne Morrison of Fowl River and Shanon Cornelius of Irvington; two brothers, Christopher C. Cornelius IV of Birmingham and Donavon Barnett of Grand Bay; her paternal grandparents, Bernadette and C.C Cornelius Jr., and Jake and Joan Floyd, all of Irvington; and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Ella Mae Filbert of Theodore.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Serenity Funeral Home, where chapel services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
Eva Mae Bozeman
Eva Mae Bozeman, a resident of Mobile, died Tuesday in a local nursing facility. She was 81.
Survivors include her son, Howard Bozeman Jr. of Mobile; and one grandson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville, Ala., in charge.
A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Oct. 10 at Sage Avenue United Methodist Church, 216 S. Sage Avenue. Memorials may be made to the Dauphin Island Faith Fellowship, P.O. Box 1554, Dauphin Island, AL 36528.
Ruby Lee Brye
Ruby Lee Brye, a member of Mount Olive No. 1 Baptist Church, died Monday in a local hospital. She was 70.
Mrs. Brye was a native of Montgomery who lived in Mobile.
At church, she served as a deacon's wife and past president of the Red Circles.
Survivors include one son, James E. Brye of Eight Mile; two daughters, Sharon Brye Scott of Mobile and Loretta Wiggins of Houston; one sister, Mary Q. Robinson of Montgomery; two brothers, James Robinson of Birmingham and Willie Joe Robinson of Mobile; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home from noon to 5 p.m. Friday. Viewing will also
be after 9 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive No. 1 Baptist Church, 409 Lexington Avenue, where visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery.
Charles A. 'Terry' Clarke III
CODEN - Charles A. "Terry" Clarke III, who worked as a purchasing agent for Sea Pearl Sea Products Inc., died Monday at the age of 47.
The Bayou La Batre native lived in Coden.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Allgood Clarke of Coden; daughter, Kathryn Clarke of Coden; mother, Margaret McCarron Clarke; and sister, Dale Clarke Barber.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Serenity Funeral Home. Services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church on Wintzell Avenue in Bayou La Batre.

Nina Johnson Pleasant, a retiree of St. Mary's Group Home, died Friday in Mobile at the age of 66.
Mrs. Pleasant, a lifelong Mobilian, retired from St. Mary's Group Home in 1993. She was a member of St. James Major Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Paulette Woodson of Vallejo, Calif., and Cassandra Johnston of Waynesboro, Miss.; and one sister, Beatrice Rowe of Florala, Ala.
Visitation will be at St. James Major Catholic Church in Prichard on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service. Reese Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Katie Mae Tate Weaver
Katie Mae Tate Weaver, a homemaker and member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Mrs. Weaver, who lived in Mobile, was a former resident of Corpus Christi, Tex.
Survivors include one son, King David Weaver Jr. of Mobile, and two daughters, Yvonne Weaver Dunlap and Dorothy Weaver, both of Mobile.
Arrangements will be announced by Azalea Funeral Home.
Herbert Lee Sturdivant
TOXEY - Herbert Lee Sturdivant, who had worked as a carpenter with the carpenters' union in
Demopolis, died Monday in a Meridian, Miss., hospital.
Sturdivant, 89, lived in Toxey and was a member of Needham Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Ree Davidson Sturdivant of Toxey; three sons, Raymond Herbert Sturdivant of Valparaiso, Fla., Roger Lee Sturdivant Sr. of Saraland and Oliver Jeff Sturdivant of Semmes; one brother, Talmadge 'Tal' Sturdivant of Needham, Ala.; one sister, Floy Robinson of Saraland; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Needham Assembly of God. Burial will be in Bonner Cemetery in Toxey. Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown is handling arrangements.
Andrew Jackson Hyman Jr.
THOMASVILLE - Andrew Jackson Hyman Jr., a supervisor at MacMillan Bloedel with 15 years of service, died Monday at his home. He was 61.
Hyman, a native of Milton-Freeman, Ore., lived in Thomasville. He formerly lived in Pine Hill, Ala., where he had worked as a superintendent with the town.
Survivors include two daughters, Teri Lamoreaux of Aberdeen, Wash., and Patricia Hancock of Thomasville; one son, Cameron Hyman of Houston; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, where a memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday.
Edward Napper
CHATOM, Ala. - Edward Caswell Napper, a retired master sergeant, died Wednesday in a Chatom nursing facility at the age of 99.
A native of Bigbee, Ala., Napper lived in Chatom and was a member of Chatom Baptist Church.
Napper was a veteran of World War I and World War II. During his 24-year military career, he had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1947 from Craig Field in Alabama where he had served with the Squadron A, 44th AAF Base Unit.
Survivors include his wife, Princess Reynolds Napper of Chatom; one son, Edward Napper of Gulfport, Miss.; two daughters, Evelyn Alexander of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Elaine Sims of Pasadena, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom on Friday from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. chapel service. Burial will be in Wesley's Chapel Cemetery in Bigbee, Ala.
Thomas Mund
OYSTER BAY - Thomas Mund, a lifelong resident of Oyster Bay, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998. He was 79 years old.
Mund was an active member of the St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bon Secour and a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Shriners and Masons. Mund transported crippled children for the Shriners to St. Jude's hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
He is survived by his wife, Leona H. Mund of Oyster Bay; a son, Robert Mund of Oyster Bay; three daughters, Bobbi Bemis and Mary Lou Bemis, both of Oyster Bay, and Deloria Overshiner of North Vernon, Ind.; a sister, Mary Clark of Pensacola; one half-sister, Juanita Bemis of Oyster Bay; two half-brothers, Adrian Pierce of Oyster Bay and Norman Pierce of Loxley; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held today at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bon Secour at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held from 2 until the funeral services begin. The Rev. Scott James will officiate.
Burial will follow in St. Peter's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Bon Secour. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Baldwin Funeral Home in Gulf Shores.

Robert G. Lister, a retiree of Warrior & Gulf Navigation Co., died Tuesday in a local health care facility. He was 85.
Lister, a native of Creola, lived in Satsuma for many years.
Prior to working with Warrior & Gulf, he had been employed with the Alabama Dry Dock.
The Barton Academy graduate was a former member of the Satsuma Volunteer Fire Department. He also was a former member of the Satsuma Planning Board. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 899 and Satsuma United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Grey Corley Lister; his children, Robert Corley Lister, Gordon Lister and Leander Wayne Lister; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 10 a.m. today at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Burial will be in Creola Cemetery.

Ubie K. Snow, a retiree of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 505, died Wednesday at his home.
Snow, 89, a native of Eliska, Ala., lived in Mobile since 1942. He was a member of Howard Masonic Lodge and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Snow of Mobile; one daughter, Amy Carruth of Pensacola; one brother, T.H. Snow of Tanner Williams.
Services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where visitation will be at noon.

Bruce A. Grandy Jr.
Bruce Abner Grandy Jr., a retiree of Fruit Growers Express Railroad, died Wednesday in a local hospital at the age of 85.
Grandy, a native of Norfolk, Va., had lived in Saraland and Chickasaw for the past three years. He formerly lived in Nashville, Tenn., for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Mills Grandy of Chickasaw; four children, Mary Ann Tobin of Seattle, Wash., Joan Benefiel of Fairhope, William Scott Grandy and Byron Reginald Grandy, both of Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

FOLEY - Leona Ann Hale, a homemaker and resident of Foley, died Thursday at the age of 89.
She was a native of Pickens County, Ala.
Survivors include two sisters, Geneva Ashcraft of Tuscaloosa and Eunice Palmer of Mobile; and one brother, Hulon Clanton of Birmingham.
Services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley, with visitation at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.

FAIRHOPE - Roger D. Hester, a resident of Fairhope, died Saturday in Pascagoula. He was 46.
Hester, born and reared in Pascagoula, was a longtime Alabama resident.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Hester; three sons, Alton Steve Hester of Little Rock, Ark., Roger Dale Hester of Florida and Marcus Bradly Hester of Mobile; three sisters, Bernice Hester Rider of Lucedale, Miss., Fran Johns of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Maudie Baker of Moss Point, Miss.; five brothers, Mac Hester and Herman Hester, both of Grand Bay, George Hester of Pascagoula, and Dozier Hester and Alvia Hester, both of Moss Point; and two grandchildren.

GROVE HILL - Laura Mae Love, a homemaker and member of Wilson Chapel AME Church, died Saturday in Mobile. She was 68.
Mrs. Love was a native and resident of Grove Hill.
She served as trustee at church. She also was a member of the Missionary Society and the choir. In addition, she was a class leader and a Sunday school teacher.
She was a member of Evening Star Lodge No. 60 of the Brotherhood.
Survivors include four sons, Jimmie Love of Salitpa, Nelson Love of Cleveland, Ohio, Ivan Love of Savannah, Ga., and Rilton Love of Montgomery; three daughters, Merilyn Jackson of Cleveland and Marie Thornton of Cleveland, Omeria Love of Grove Hill; one brother, Petro Jordan of Grove Hill; three sisters, Allie Smith of Grove Hill, Shirley Jones of Peekskill, N.Y., Barbara Stokes of Newark, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

NANAFALIA - Annie Snow Pearson Westbrook, a homemaker and member of Nanafalia Baptist Church, died Wednesday in a nursing facility in Butler, Ala.
Mrs. Westbrook, 96, was a native of Northport, Ala., and a resident of Nanafalia.
Survivors include her daughter, Hays Caplinger of Nanafalia; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

ST. STEPHENS - Ethelene M. Loper, a homemaker and member of St. Stephens Baptist Church, died Wednesday in a hospital in Grove Hill.
Mrs. Loper, 83, was an Alabama native living in St. Stephens.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil Loper of St. Stephens; one son, Rodney Loper of St. Stephens; two sisters, Viola Carpenter of Waynesboro, Miss., and Betty Faile of Campbell, Ala.; and two grandsons.

SWEETWATER, Tenn. - Lee Coleman Pritchett, a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Madisonville, Tenn., died Wednesday in Knoxville, Tenn. He was 69.
Pritchett, a resident of Sweetwater, formerly lived in Mobile.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Pritchett of Sweetwater; one son, Jerry Pritchett of Cleveland, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Karen Broyles of Sweetwater; three sisters, Ruth Stringer, Ruby Dean McHaney and Nealie May Smith, all of Jackson, Ala.; four brothers, Charles Pritchett of Jackson, Jimmy Pritchett of Jacksonville, Ark., Raymond Pritchett of Calhoun, Tenn., and Willie J. Pritchett of Biloxi, Miss.; and three grandchildren.
Services were Thursday in Madisonville, Tenn., with Biereley-Hale Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stave Creek Cemetery in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson in charge.

Charlotte Thompson
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Charlotte Bullen Thompson, a Mobile native and graduate of McGill-Toolen High School, died Wednesday in California.
Mrs. Thompson lived in San Diego for the past 18 years.
Survivors include three sons, Marvin M. Thompson Jr. of New Braunfels, Texas, Andrew J. Thompson of Mobile and Roy C. Thompson of San Diego; two daughters, Lisa Plourda of Virginia and Jamie A. McCoy of San Diego; two sisters, Billie Griffith of San Diego and Aline Bullen Zimmerman of Tucson, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service is set from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 4077 Ibis St. in Mission Hills, Calif.

Moses Harrell
NEW ORLEANS - Moses Harrell, who worked as a truck driver and a security guard, died Monday in a New Orleans hospital.
The Selma native lived in New Orleans for more than 40 years. He was a member of Divine Providence Baptist Church of New Orleans.
Survivors include his sisters, Lillie Henry and Bonnie Scott of New Orleans and Irene Smith of Mobile, Cecile Tucker of Indianapolis, and Zola Moore, Joanne Moore, Roxie Moore and Carolyn Woodson, all of Birmingham; and his brothers, Thurman Harrell of Mobile, Roosevelt Harrell of New Orleans and William Moore of Indianapolis.
Viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. Saturday with services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
